He was engaged in letting of Commercial Property and also in trading Copra among other things. Built in 1914 this intricately detailed house is named “Winnie Villa” as visible on the front wall engravings. Fernando had an only daughter named Vinitia born in 1916 two years after the house is said to have been built, but it isn’t clear whether she was named after the house or the house was named after her birth. This unique temple is built by Mudlier Rajapakshe of maha Kappina Walawwa depicting same architectural style during Dutch Period. Maha Kappina Walawwa is now demolished] the image house has Dutch style columns, terracotta tiles on floors with a timber roof structure.
This image house is a rectangular building situated on a filled terrace and access via a steps starting from the bank of the river. Only transport to the temple is by a catamaran or a boat.

This monk residence is a courtyard building with a inner verandaa and a very low roof. Only transport to the temple is by a catamaran or a boat. Monk residence has its own boat house in the water which serves as a service entry.

8Image house and Devalaya buildings in Seenigama. Karandeniya6.15542180.090051This building in the island has a Devaleâ for God Devol. Folklore says it was build many centuries ago for a person who lived there and people started to venerate him on his acts.
The rituals take place at this Devale as a annual Perahara, Poyaday rituals and this is the only Devalaya to do Pooja for taking revenge !!!
The oldest buildings are more than 100 years as per the villagers at Seenigama area.
The uniqueness is its an island very close to mainland.

9Image house of Galagoda Pansala Karandeniya6.26207580.073489This temple is situated on a rock outcrop at Mahagoda Village in Karandeniya by the Elpitiya road approximately 5 km away from Ambalangoda.
A concrete rectangular building with a flat concrete slab was the original structure which houses the longest reclining Buddha statue in the south east asia according to the chief monk of the temple. According to the picture the flat roof was removed and a pitched toof constructed recently.Still its worth to list this and protect before they add or remove parts of the historical building.

10Image house of Maha Pansala or Thapodanaramaya templeKarandeniyaThis temple is situated on a little hillock at Mahagoda Village in Karandeniya by the Elpitiya road approximately 5 km away from Ambalangoda. Monk says the temple may have began in 1856.The image house has some preserved old paintings may be painted during late kandy period.
The old building shows some colonial period architecture, Flooring is done with detailed ceramic tiles of that era. Colored glass windows at high level of the image house.

11Old Bell Tower at Old Subadrarama Temple Ambalangoda 6.23988580.056376This masonry Bell Tower was built around 1876 as per the book Ambalangoda Puranaya. Bell tower is in dilapidated state now. The construction of this Bell tower is belived to be late Dutch period or early British period.
This temple is situated within the town limits of Ambalangoda on a small hillock closer to Darmashoka Vidyalaya.This Old Bell tower is not used by people now due to a new bell tower constructed next to this. Therefor this Old bell tower do not get any attention and maintenance. Due to unattendence this monument might perish away and possibility of a collapse.

12Image house at Old Subadrarama Temple Galle6.23988580.056376This temple is situated within the town limits of Ambalangoda on a small hillock closer to Darmashoka Vidyalaya.
Address – Old Subadrarama Viharaya, Polwathta Road, Kariththakanda, Ambalangoda.
The temple has began in 1753. This marble image house was built between 1855 – 1939.

The image house has a marble budhdha statue in it and the colonial architectural influence can be seen in this building. Use of glass and columns, roof style considered important. The size of the building is smaller compared to other similar buildings in the area.

13Ambalangoda, Poramba, SugathabimbaramayaAmbalangoda 6.23850980.060700Monks Residence [Avasa ge] and Image House constructed in similar architectural language of the Sunandarama Vihare of Ambalangoda. This temple has started as a Mal Asanayaâ [ flower offering table] in 1887 and converted to a temple in 1918 with a image house.
Wall paintings are not that old, but monks residence shows a clear connection to Sunandarama Vihare Avasa Ge.

14Ambalangoda, Rock cut steps Ambalangoda This rock situated by the main road of Ambalangoda by the bridge over Madampa River. The natural rock has manmade steps from two sides to a flat area. The Rock is known as Niridunge Gala. Folklore says this is the place where first Kolam Dances were played at Ambalangoda before a King Maha Sammatha approximately two centuries ago. There had been a Kovila at this location for god Kataragama. The Kovila is later moved to its current location by the beach in a small cave in 1940.Historic

16Railway Signal Cabin and Good Shed at Ambalangoda railway Ambalangoda6.23550280.0549124Two story Railway Signal Cabin is now abandoned due to electrical signals on coastal railway line, the mechanical levers are removed and building remains without any maintenance.
One of the best buildings to show railway architecture on coastal line is this building. The Good Shed of the station is also now not using.
