ICOMOS Sri Lanka invites professionals (architects, archaeologists, historians, fine art experts, conservation scientists, artifact and painting conservationists, museologists, etc.) working in the field of cultural heritage, having an interest in the conservation and management of cultural heritage, and students following formal training in the field of cultural heritage to become a member and help protect Sri Lanka’s diverse cultural heritage though through a collective and coordinated approach.
Once you become a member, you will become a member of the global family of ICOMOS, whose primary objective is to safeguard the cultural heritage of the humankind for the benefit of the present and future generations.
We are currently discussing with the Department of Archaeology, the Central Cultural Fund, the Department of National Museums, the Department of Archives, etc. to provide our members free access to the heritage sites and museums managed, and facilities offered by these institutions.
As a Life Member and Individual Member of ICOMOS Sri Lanka, you are eligible to obtain the International Membership of ICOMOS to receive the ICOMOS international news and to become a member of International Scientific Committees of ICOMOS, to attend the General Assemblies of ICOMOS hosted annually at different cities across the globe, based on your expertise to perform as an ICOMOS Expert in international missions to evaluate nominations with regard to World Heritage Listing of nominated properties, to assess the state of conservation of World Heritage Sites etc.
